Course Descriptions
COURSE # 1 SPIN, STALL & UNUSUAL ATTITUDES
THREE (3) DAY COURSE Aircraft used: Cessna 152 Course Dates: 4th week of every month (classes begin on Monday and Thurs.) Text Materials Included, 5 hours ground school, 5 hours flight time Description: A very popular course at The NEAC, along with being the most recommended course to enroll in, our Spin, Stall and Unusual Attitude training is a must for all pilots! The majority of aviation accidents on record have been the direct result of a pilot entering an unintentional spin. Within this course flight coordination is heavily discussed and demonstrated! The in flight practice of power-on, off, trim, and turn stalls are also heavily practiced. Many of these maneuvers are done by use of visual reference and under the hood (instrument reference). Slow flight and unusual attitudes are also covered within this program. The overall outcome of this course is to bring about the understanding of stall-spin awareness and how to prevent such from occurring. Of course if a stall or spin ever did occur, the understanding of how to immediately recover from one, is also essential. This course is a potential lifesaver! Anyone serious about aviation should seriously consider enrollment.
COURSE # 2 GPS AND RADIO NAVIGATION
TWO (2) DAY COURSE Course Prerequisite: Course # 6 or previous High Performance & Complex Endorsement Aircraft used: Cessna 172 Course Dates: Typically 3rd week of every month Text materials included, 6 hours classroom instruction, 4 to 5 hours flight time GPS Systems covered: Garmin 430/530/480, KLN 89 & 90, G1000 Intro Course Description: Within this course several different types of GPS manufacturers, along with their operations will be covered. The majority of this is done on the ground, via advance computer programs that utilize exact procedures of the specific equipment. In the air, the Garmin series will be utilized and trained with. You will learn how to navigate using GPS equipment. This covers the usage of GPS flight planning, and GPS approaches, for those who are instrument certified. Many of the manufacturers of top line GPS equipment have similar operations in terms of use. Learning and understanding the concept of GPS navigation in general will help in using all types of GPS equipment.
COURSE # 3 EMERGENCY OPERATIONS
Three (3) Day Course Course Prerequisite: None Aircraft used: Cessna 152 or Cessna 172 (clients choice) Course Dates: To be announced Text materials included, 5 hours ground instruction, 6 hours flight time Course Description: Emergency operations are by far one of those subjects looked over by many pilots after becoming certified. We must all remember that at anytime it can happen to anyone of us. A sudden engine loss or fire in the cockpit can have serious effects on our safety. Within this course we discuss a broad amount of in flight and taxi emergencies that can happen at any time. Such emergencies shall include in-flight engine loss, in flight fire, rudder and trim failure, landing gear malfunctions, distractions in the cockpit, radio failure/light gun signals, flap malfunction, and much more. While practicing these simulated in flight emergencies, short filed airports are also utilized. The decision of when to turn around and how to determine safe glide distances are also heavily discussed and demonstrated. This is an all hands on experience when in the aircraft. Another must for all pilots!
COURSE # 4 FLIGHT REVIEW or INSTRUMENT COMPETENCY CHECK.
One (1) Day Course Aircraft used: Cessna 152 or Cessna 172 (clients choice) Aircraft used: (Instrument Competency Check) Cessna 172 only Course Dates: Date scheduled upon request - typically 1st week of every month Basic text materials included, minimum 1 hour ground instruction & 1 hour of flight time. Typical flight review will take around 1.5 hours ground instruction and 1.5 hours of flight instruction. Instrument Competency Checks (ICCs) will vary. Course Description: As required by Federal Aviation Regulations, a certified pilot must have completed a flight review within a twenty-four calendar month period to act as pilot in command of an aircraft. Within this course, several different types of take-offs and landings are practiced. Stalls and steep turns are also covered and practiced. Basic emergency procedures are also covered and demonstrated. Completion of this course, will fulfill the Federal Aviation Regulation requirements for pilot in command, including the 90 day recent aviation experience. This course is recommended for the more proficient pilot. Less proficient pilots should consider enrolling in course # 5, titled Proficiency Reviews. Instrument Competency Check (ICC): Within this course, all of the flight review criteria is also met. In addition, VOR and GPS navigation is conducted while in flight. Different instrument approaches, including but not limited to, VOR, NDB, LOC, ILS, and GPS will also be heavily discussed and practiced. En route holds will also be covered. While under the hood, several in flight emergencies and unusual attitudes will also be demonstrated.
COURSE # 5 Proficiency Reviews
Course Length: Three (3) To Five (5) Days Aircraft Used: Cessna 152 or Cessna 172 Course Dates: Typically 2nd week of every month All essential text materials are included, 8 hours ground training & 5 hours flight training Course Description: The NEAC Proficiency Course has been designed for certified pilots that have not flown in some time. This course enables you to regain your confidence as acting as pilot in command along with regaining skills you were once proficient at. The course typically takes three days for visual pilots. For instrument pilots, the course will take closer to five days. Completion of this course also meets Federal Aviation Requirement for the Flight Review and Instrument Competency Check. Within this course normal and short field take-offs and landings are heavily practiced. Steep turns, several different types of stalls, minimal controllable airspeed, and emergency procedures are also practiced. You can view the typical course price by clicking the link below.
